Creating Engaging Videos: Keep It Personal

Human beings are neurologically hard-wired to respond to stories. Facts can be sourced and questioned, but the narrator of a story is immediately reliable and relatable. When creating engaging web content, you want to be the storyteller, and you want to believe in the story you’re telling.

Likewise, clients and prospective clients are more likely to watch something they find personally relevant. So when preparing your message, consider what they care about. Don’t focus on what your firm can do — focus on what your firm can do for them. Are you able to help your clients retire how and when they want? Are you able to help them fund a legacy plan for their children and grandchildren? Are you able to help them protect their loved ones should something unthinkable happen?

Video is an emotional medium, and emotion spurs action. That’s why it’s so important to keep it personal.
