Vice President, Strategic Relationships

Al Prentice is the vice president of strategic relationships at 1st Global, where he works with the company’s largest firms to help them grow their businesses and become more profitable and efficient; continues to recruit large firms and consult with affiliated firms; builds and maintains relationships with accounting associations to help facilitate growth; and provides internal consulting for the Business Development Department. He joined 1st Global in 1999 and previously served as the vice president of business development, vice president of practice management and vice president of business management services.

Al received his Bachelor of Arts degree in English and mathematics and his Master of Education degree from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. He started his career as a teacher and coach in a Louisiana school district before working for 12 years in the telecommunications industry and five years in the domestic oil and gas industry. But after reading Milton Friedman’s “Free to Choose,” he knew he wanted to be part of the financial services industry, so he earned his CFP® designation and then his Master of Business Administration degree from Texas Christian University prior to joining 1st Global. He values that his current role allows him to work with highly respectable financial advisors who are also tax-focused CPAs and help a tremendous amount of individuals identify and resolve complex financial issues through a tax-optimized and ethical process. He is a member of the Financial Planning Association and has passed the FINRA Series 7, 24 and 66 exams.
